Let’s be honest, nobody’s lining up to clean the dip tank. But if you’ve ever left yours too long (no judgment), you know it starts to get murky real fast. Screens don’t reclaim as easily, chemicals lose their strength.
The good news? Cleaning out your Ecotex® Dip Tank is way easier than you think. Whether you’ve been using it for months or just want to start fresh, here’s how we recommend you drain and clean yours.
Step 1: Gear Up and Get Set
First things first—get your setup dialed in.
- Gloves + eye protection = non-negotiable
- Large bucket or container to catch your old solution
- A clean work zone—ideally near a drain or on a non-porous surface
If you’ve got any leftover screens chilling in the tank, pull them out and let them drip dry for a bit.
Step 2: Drain It Out
Ecotex® Dip Tank's come with a built-in spigot, which makes draining a breeze. Just open the valve and let it flow into your container. If your setup allows, drain directly into a drum for proper disposal.
Heads up: Always check with your local waste management rules before dumping any chemicals. Most places require proper hazardous waste disposal, don’t skip this step.
Step 3: Scrub Down
Once the tank’s empty, give it a good rinse with warm water. Then go in with a scrub brush and some cleaner. We use EcoTex® Hyper Haze or a mild degreaser, just enough to break up any build-up on the walls or bottom.
For tight corners or sticky spots, an old toothbrush or bottle brush works wonders. Don’t forget to hit the lid, the inside edges, and around the spigot.
Step 4: Rinse + Refill
After everything’s been scrubbed, give the tank one last rinse and dry it off. Then you’re ready to refill with your dip tank solution of choice (we use EcoTex® Dip Tank Solution, fast and effective).
Mix your chemical per the recommended dilution ratio, close the lid, and you’re back in business. Fresh tank, faster reclaim, zero sludge.

- Keep the lid on when not in use to reduce evaporation and contamination
- If your reclaim times start to slow down, it’s probably time to refresh the solution or do a quick cleanout
